This summer is almost over. As always, it dashed away in the blink of an eye leaving behind nice memories and cool pictures on the phone.⠀
⠀
This was the summer of family reunion and meeting new people. I finally could hug and kiss my mom and sister who I hadn’t seen for two years.⠀
⠀
I met my niece for the first time. I met some friends of friends who are my friends now. I met some wonderful people while working on a new project.⠀
⠀
I enjoyed lots of socializing, good food and fine wine, so I am totally geared up and ready to step into up and coming fall.⠀

How long should it take to learn English?⠀
The most accurate answer to this question is “It depends”.⠀
⠀
It depends on your age, motivation, your target, your previous language learning background, on the intensity of your study, etc.🤪⠀
⠀
However, Cambridge examiners come with recommendations for number of hours you might need to progress from one level to another.⠀
⠀
Motivated adult learners typically need between 100 and 200 hours of guided learning to get from one CEFR level to the next. As you go up the levels, you need more and here is how it works: ⠀
C2 Proficiency 1,000—1,200 hours⠀
C1 Advanced 700—800 hours⠀
B2 First 500—600 hours⠀
B1 Preliminary 350—400 hours⠀
A2 Key 180—200 hours⠀
A1 Starters/Movers 90-100 hour⠀
Now let’s count how much effort you need to put in if you are a highly motivated absolute beginner and want to get to level B2 in one year.⠀
(90+180+350+500) / 42 weeks = 26 hours per week of guided learning. 🦸‍♂️🦸⠀
⠀
Keep down to earth and study English!⠀

COMPARE TO vs COMPARE WITH

Compare to and compare with are not interchangeable. It means we can not replace one with another in sentences.
📌Compare to is used when things are being likened to each other, when we want to say that things are similar to each other in a way:
- He compared her skin to ivory.
📌 Compare with is used when things are being considered from the point of view of both similarities and differences:
- Tourists find London hotels expensive compared with those of other European capitals.

📌When compare is used without an object, WITH should always be used:
-His direction compares with early Hitchcock.

◆ In American English compared to and comparable to are frequently used where with is appropriate:.
- Compared to my brother, I'm poor. - It's not comparable to the home-made version.

These uses are coming into British English.
