“The Halo Photo-Duel: The Sun Drew a Circle Around the One Who Tried to Capture the Sun” On Petrovsky Boulevard, reality challenged itself to a duel. The Stringer and @Lomografik — two mirrors, two flashes of light. The halo isn’t a lens flaw but proof that the city photographs itself. Each ray is a nerve, each frame a diagnosis. For a moment, Moscow became the camera, and man — its film. Technical Details: Location: Alexander Garden, Moscow Camera: Zenit-35F (Lens: Minitar-1, ƒ/8, 1/125s) Film: Fomapan 100 Classic B&W (Expired 03/2007) Date: 03/06/2017 Scanner: Noritsu LS-1100 (#printbypro) Philosophy:  “When light decides to shoot first, photography becomes an act of self‑recognition.” The stringer stood on the boulevard holding something unknown. This unknown thing was very small, yet it bit fiercely with silver halide film. Suddenly, Lomografik walked up and performed a resounding "click." The stringer also performed a "click," though slightly to the left of his armpit. The sun, exhausted from watching such photographic geometry, curled itself into a glowing bagel and settled directly onto the stringer’s shoulders. Threshold of Visibility — A Dangerous Duet on the Great Full Moon Day (Svema A-2Sh) Light cuts through the space, two shadows share the moment — the frame holds the edge. We composed a relfie. But since we wore round pieces of dark glass, we saw neither ourselves nor each other. This is the highest form of the genre. Yuri, speaking the ancient dialect of Lomo-Punk, and I, merely holding the 1963 Zeiss, decided to become two dark circles with legs. The sun, either setting, rising, or simply confused by the calendar, agreed to burn a hole in the sky. The Svema film, completely bewildered by this much light, turned the heavens into boiling milk and our faces into shadows of shadows. We are a half-frame. We are the missing half of a thought that nobody started. The moon was full, or the sun was angry. In black and white, the difference is purely philosophical. We looked at the world, the world looked at us, and both parties politely pretended not to notice. The kebabs here were famously described as “deliciously wrong,” a phrase that worked less as praise and more as a declaration of artistic intent. The building looked like it had been assembled from leftover decisions, yet it held its ground with the confidence of a structure that knew flavor could outlive architecture. Both the darkroom and the kebab stand have vanished, leaving behind nothing but a stubborn aftertaste in the city’s memory.
