The Nancy Grace Roman Space Telescope, launched atop a SpaceX Falcon Heavy rocket from Kennedy Space Center on August 30, will be stationed a million miles from Earth. The telescope will capture views of distant galaxies and the hundreds of millions of stars in the Milky Way, helping scientists learn more about dark matter and dark energy. Unlocking the secrets of the universe is a far cry from the task the telescope's primary mirror was initially created for, as a component of a spy satellite that would monitor human activity from orbit.

We kept a close eye on the cecropia trees, hoping for a glimpse of a sloth high in the tree canopy. Imagine our joy when we saw this three-toed sloth right off the trail at Reserva Ecológica de Guapiaçu (REGUA) in Cachoeiras de Macacu! We both shed tears of happiness and excitement, marveling at our amazing world and the creatures in it.
