19 August 2023 — 19 August 2026. Three years ago today, I learned with great sorrow that I had lost my dear companion, Yahyoxon. Inna lillahi wa inna ilayhi raji’un. I loved him purely for the sake of Allah. He was more than a friend to me; he was truly my brother in faith and one of the most sincere people I have ever known. He was among those who reminded me of Allah simply through his presence, his words, and his character. This is the last photograph in which I saw him. I share it first as a reminder to myself, and then to everyone who knew him: كُلُّ نَفْسٍ ذَائِقَةُ الْمَوْتِ “Every soul will taste death.” — Qur’an 3:185 None of us knows which conversation will be the last, which embrace will be the last, which photograph will be the last, or when our own name will become a memory for those we leave behind. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: “Remember often the destroyer of pleasures” — death. So remember death—not merely with sadness, but with preparation. May Allah forgive my brother Yahyoxon, have abundant mercy upon him, illuminate and expand his grave, accept every sincere deed he performed, overlook his shortcomings, raise his ranks among the righteous, and admit him into Jannat al-Firdaws without punishment. May Allah make the memory of those we have lost a reason for us to return to Him before our own time comes. وَإِلَيْنَا تُرْجَعُونَ “…and to Us you will all be returned.” — Qur’an 21:35 Allāhumma āmīn.

The Last Dance, “23 to 24” — A Little Bit of Seriousness :) Whoever rushes something before its time will surely be punished with deprivation. A guest is honored and welcomed with the highest regard. Yet the guest must always recognize the Greatness of the Host. Since they have accepted the invitation, they are not entitled to comfort, but rather obliged to obedience. My Lord, enable us to live by the most authentic knowledge, walk the most authentic path, and die upon the most authentic Faith — in perfect alignment with Your pleasure. Grant us the strength to obey You, and let us return only as Muslims, pure and pleasing to You. Allahumma Ameen.

On This Day: A Reflection to Be Remembered¡ حَدَّثَنَا الْحُسَيْنُ بْنُ الْحَسَنِ الْمَرْوَزِيُّ، أَنْبَأَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ أَبِي عَدِيٍّ، حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ أَبِي حُمَيْدٍ، حَدَّثَنَا حَفْصُ بْنُ عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ أَنَسٍ، عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ، قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ـ صلى الله عليه وسلم ـ ‏ “‏ إِنَّ مِنَ النَّاسِ مَفَاتِيحَ لِلْخَيْرِ مَغَالِيقَ لِلشَّرِّ وَإِنَّ مِنَ النَّاسِ مَفَاتِيحَ لِلشَّرِّ مَغَالِيقَ لِلْخَيْرِ فَطُوبَى لِمَنْ جَعَلَ اللَّهُ مَفَاتِيحَ الْخَيْرِ عَلَى يَدَيْهِ وَوَيْلٌ لِمَنْ جَعَلَ اللَّهُ مَفَاتِيحَ الشَّرِّ عَلَى يَدَيْهِ ‏”‏ ‏.‏ It was narrated that Anas bin Malik said: “The Messenger of Allah said: ‘Some people open the door to good and close the door to evil, and some people open the door to evil and close the door to good.
