Данная Пуцевичская (Замковая) гора, где ранее располагалось деревянное городище, находится примерно в пяти километрах от другой Замковой горы современного Новогрудка. Именно там высятся остатки каменно-кирпичного замка, заложенного в XIII веке Миндовгом и перестроенного в камне Витовтом. Тот первый, древнейший замок, вероятно, и упоминался в ранних сагах как легендарный Холмгард — Холмгород (Gesta Danorum, k.II; Vilkina saga). В те далекие века, когда эти земли населяли древние племена (венеды, герулы и ульмеруги), полноводные протоки Немана (Нямунаса) вполне могли доходить до этих мест, извиваясь по межгорным низинам. 🌊🛡

The Putsevichi (Castle) Hill, once home to an ancient wooden hillfort, is located about five kilometers from the other Castle Hill of modern Navahrudak. It is there that the ruins of the stone castle stand — originally founded by Mindaugas in the 13th century and later rebuilt in stone by Vytautas. That first, oldest castle was likely referred to in early Nordic lore as the legendary Holmgard (Gesta Danorum, k.II; Vilkina saga). In those distant times, when these areas were populated by early tribes (such as the Veneti, Heruli, and Ulmerugi), the high waters of the Neman (Nemunas) river channels could well have reached these lands, winding through the intermontane valleys. 🏰⚔️
