My Monaco

A principality that manages to surprise.

1. An abundance of art objects and sculptures, some of which can actually be purchased and placed in a private collection. One example is the work by Bernard Bezzina (photos 13, 14), which symbolizes the union of strength, represented by a hand, and fragility, expressed through cracks. When looking at the sculpture, there is a sense that the globe is about to fall and shatter. And some art objects can even be acquired for a private collection, such as César Baldaccini’s finger sculpture, valued at around 800,000 euros. I also captured the reflection of a person inside this finger (photo 8).

2. Despite its small territory and, in some areas, very dense high-rise development, Monaco feels comfortable thanks to its well-designed water and green management. There are parks everywhere, including a Japanese Zen garden (video 6), opened in 1994 on the initiative of Prince Rainier III, who wanted to fulfill the dream of his late wife, Princess Grace, of creating a corner of Japanese culture. All key materials—wooden elements, roof tiles, stone lanterns—were brought from Japan. Beyond the sea, there are also many water mirrors, streams, and waterfalls that help cool the air in the heat (photos 1, 2, 11, 18, video 6).

3. The first image of Monaco before arriving is luxury. And indeed, there is plenty of it. Tourists come here partly to observe the lives of the wealthy, to take photos with Ferraris, to walk through the casino during the day (photos 15, 16), and many line up along certain streets just to see and hear high-end cars. It is interesting and almost surreal that nobody seems to be embarrassed by it. Everyone plays their role: some admire, others participate by pressing the accelerator a little harder.

At the same time, it is also possible to live here quietly with children, without being disturbed by tourists. A few turns away, locals are already playing ball and enjoying the sea (videos 10, 12).

Will I come back?
Definitely.
And I would try to stay here as long as possible!

My Winter Verona [1-20]

My life in this city during winter feels like the life of an artist who is never in a hurry.
Every day I walk out with my camera like it’s a brush — to create something worthy of a gallery wall.

This city taught me to love the fog.
Its constant change makes it feel close to me.

Sometimes Verona dissolves into mist —
the bridges over the Adige disappear,
buildings lose their edges,
and everything turns into pure graphic form.

And sometimes it is the opposite —
a flash, a sense of scale, the fire of a deep red sunset.

During the Winter Olympics, the ancient Arena di Verona became the stage of an closing event.
I didn’t try to shoot a thousand frames of this unique moment.
I quietly waited for my one — the image that matches my style and my vision.

And now you can see what I believe is the most atmospheric photograph ever created of this two-thousand-year-old arena.

On other evening, just before Christmas, I painted with red light around Arco dei Gavi.
Or captured the silhouettes of lovers watching the city after sunset from the viewpoint on the way up to Castel San Pietro.

From the hills, Verona reveals another face —
panoramas washed in red sunsets,
the Adige like a dark ribbon,
rooftops fading slowly with the sky.

Then comes the night.
Wet roads turn into lines.
Headlights cut through space.
Light becomes my main creative tool.

Winter Verona is not a Romeo and Juliet postcard.
It is a city of contrasts:
fog and fire,
silence and spectacle,
ancient stone and movement.

Each frame in this series is a panorama of time that I painted.

And any of them can become part of your space —
a reminder of a city that lives not only in history, but in the present.

My Winter Venice [1-14]
Or what a real city can look like without gondolas and carnival masks.

This winter I came here and lived in the city for long periods of time.
I watched how the light changes, how the water moves, how the city breathes without the tourist noise.

Sometimes I worked with scale and time — when the movement of my hand turned the familiar space of Piazza San Marco into a stage.
Light stretched along the arcades of Procuratie Nuove, where Museo Correr is located today, and the familiar architecture started to feel different — not like a postcard, but like time in motion.

On another day I was drawn to the dark passage near the Bridge of Sighs — a place usually photographed as a symbol, yet in winter it becomes almost intimate.

Early in the morning, on my way to Burano, I paused in front of the market panorama — the cold air suddenly felt warm because of the light from the shop windows and the people inside.

For me, Venice is not only architecture.
It is faces on the vaporetto.
It is wind.
It is the sea — sometimes harsh, almost black and white in feeling.
And it is the night, when the city becomes more honest.

When the tourist flow fades away, you start noticing details.

It was important for me to show the city and the islands — Lido, Murano, San Giorgio Maggiore — the way they feel in winter: calm, slightly austere, yet deeply beautiful and real.

Each frame in this series is part of lived time.
And any of them can become an inspiration for your home.
